Details
The University of Queensland began its social work programme in 1956, training social workers with a three year diploma. In 1960, the course became a four year degree programme, the first of its kind in Australia. By the late 1960s, the four year programme had become the standard in social work education across the country, and was required to join the Australian Association of Social Workers from 1974.
