In April, 1918, Miss Nora Milnes BSc was appointed Director of the School to start at the beginning of the next session. She was an excellent appointment, having previously been a Lecturer at the LSE for 5 Years and at King’s College for Women for 3 years. She played a prominent role in social work education and research for the next 40 years and more; she stayed at Edinburgh until she retired in 1951.
