I was a social worker within a children and families practice team in Edinburgh before working for a specialist Barnardo's service for children who display harmful sexual behaviour. I then worked within the social work subject at the University of Edinburgh as a Teaching Fellow before embarking on my PhD in Social Work.
I have lots of memories of studying at the University , having previously completed an MSW there - too many to mention here!
Since leaving the University I have been working as a lecturer in child protection at Edinburgh Napier University across the other side of town in Sighthill. I think completing my PhD has been my proudest achievement, and I am ever so grateful to my supervisors, Janice McGhee and Ethel Quayle, for all their support in helping me to complete it. I have been lucky to publish a couple of articles from my PhD, and to have had the opportunity to attend international conferences both here and abroad to talk about my work. I have met some very interesting and inspiring people along the way, and in the future I would hope to become one of those people for some others.
